I learned a lot from the video interviews. Until then I was having trouble narrowing my topics down to a researchable question. I enjoyed finding issues on our campus that could easily be addressed. The meeting with my site supervisor was reassuring because I was unsure of many of my ideas. I have decided to research the effects of double blocking for struggling learners and think that it will interesting.
In terms of double blocking do you mean having a language arts and reading class together so that they are in the same room for two periods? Or do they double block in more than that subject? I teach elementary, 5th grade and we always advise about scheduling but I don't know much about the secondarys scheduling. I am glad that your supervisor was reassuring, it is very helpful in this type of class to have a supervisor that is supportive. Hopefully, you will find support in your blog as well!
ReplyDeleteTodd, I just completed my ILD and PDAS training. A gentleman in my group researched the same topic as you for his EdD. I have also taught in schools that used double block and moved to single block primarily due to scheduling reasons. TAKS scores improved with the shorter class periods... I think because teachers don't have time to waste, you have to hit the ground running everyday.
